Feeding Yourself

Feeding Yourself

In this five-week online workshop, we'll explore the mirth and impasse of holding a writing practice, and build together measures that nourish us as writers. For some, this may look like a necessity to ground oneself further in the work; for others, this may mean shifting between radically different modes. This workshop will provide an array of approaches. Each week we'll look at a sustaining element of poetry (such as obsession, love or curiosity) and how its manifestation in our habits can culminate in our work. We'll read work by francine j harris, Richard Siken, Yanyi and other writers. Our time together will be generative, reflective and collaborative as we write and workshop our poems. Students will be given writing prompts each week as well as takeaways to continue their generative practice beyond the workshop. This is a course for you to write poems that are hungry for your attention. Class sessions will meet synchronously via Zoom every Sunday night, and assignments, poems and critiques will be shared via Wet Ink.
