Writing Revolutionary Love

Writing Revolutionary Love

Writing can be a revolutionary act and revolution can be an act of love. In this five-week online workshop, we'll write and workshop poems about radical love, the revolution and resistance while reading and discussing work by poets such as Jericho Brown, Hafizah Geter, June Jordan, Donika Kelly, Audre Lorde, Dawn Lundy Martin, Carl Phillips, Danez Smith and more. Poets will have the option of working in poetic forms like the ghazal, sonnet and the ode, and we'll also innovate some new forms together in class. Topics will include queer love as radical love; black love as resistance; and the self-care revolution, among others. Class sessions will meet synchronously via Zoom every Thursday night, and assignments, poems and critiques will be shared via Wet Ink.
