Imagining the Future

Imagining the Future

Right now so many of us are stuck in an undefined present that has little resemblance to our life before the pandemic began. In this weekend online workshop, we’ll start a series of poems (four poems in ninety minutes) in which we imagine possible futures. Each exercise will ask participants to play with borrowed language and take inspiration from music and short films as well as other poems. The next day, we’ll workshop one poem by each student. Readings will include poems by John Yau, Terence Winch, Eileen Myles, Victor Hernández Cruz, Yehuda Amichai, Jean Arp Barbara Guest, Mary Ruefle and others. Class sessions will meet synchronously via Zoom.
